QUEST FOR THE CROWN

With every Caribou Carnival comes one of the most incredible quests in the North. It's a quest of honour, integrity and above all charity – it is the QUEST FOR THE CROWN.

Each year incredible members of the community spend hundreds of volunteer hours raising money by selling raffle tickets in the community.

The raffle isn't too shabby for people who buy tickets either. Each ticket purchased is an entry for you into a draw for various prizes donated by local businesses.

The Coronation Ceremony is held annually at CARIBOU CAPERS, a popular annual talent show loaded with comedy, music and dance.

Janice
My name is Janice, I was born and raised in the NWT and have one daughter, Jenna, who aspires to run for Caribou Princess one day as well. I love the outdoors be it rain or cold which bodes well for living here. My interests are fitness, dancing, canoeing, camping and hiking, basically anything that will have me outside in the fresh air. I love the sciences, accounting and anything that has me dealing with people of all ages. I wish all the other contestants a lot of luck and best wishes for Caribou Carnival 2007.

Jesslyn
My name is Jesslyn, I'm 15 years old and attend St. Patrick High School. I'm currently in grade 10 and enjoying it. I was born in Hay River, NWT. I moved to central Alberta when I was only nine months old. In 2000, I moved to Yellowknife. Yellowknife is a nice town, but I hate the weather. I like to participate in extra curricular activities. My favourite is soccer. I live with my parents, Kim and Rob, and I have three sisters. In my spare time I like to hangout with my friends or I'm at work. I have run for Princess previously and enjoyed the experience. I'm excited to do it again!

Julie
I am 27 years old and have lived in Yellowknife since 1990 when I moved here with my parents. Even though it's not my hometown, I very much consider Yellowknife my home. In the years I've been here I have grown to love so many things in the north. I enjoy spending time with my sweetheart, Daniel Jaeb, and with my adorable 5-year old son, Jayden. I enjoy singing and you maybe have seen my trying out for the North of 60 Idol at the Legion . . a couple of times (. I love to fish so the long summer days are very enjoyable. And, in the winter you might even catch me out on the ice trying my luck with an ice rod if we get a warmer winter day!

I have fond memories of Caribou Carnival while growing up in Yellowknife. I can remember one fo the highlights after moving here was getting Big Macs that were frozen and sent up for the south. I'm sure it's something I would never eat now, but did they ever taste good! More recently, I enjoy the drummers, the snowmobile races, the ice/snow sculptures, watching the dogsleds take off and especially my all-time favourite, the Sugar Shack! I looked forward to making more memories this year at Caribou Carnival and I hope that by running for Caribou Carnival Queen it will bring me a little closer to our wonderful community.

I'd like to wish everyone good luck in all events. See you on the ice!

Justin
Justin is my name. I was given a mission on October 25, 1990, in Yellowknife, NT, to be the best that I can be. I am currently receiving my training at Ecole Sir John Franklin High School with more training in my future. I have successfully attended and participated in 14 other Caribou Carnivals. At the 2000 Carnival I helped T-BO with the massive mother and cub snow carving and also in 2005 with the colourful Easter rabbit carving on down on the ice. I believe in the spirit of Yellowknife and Yellowknifers. Yellowknifers, your mission is to make this 2007 Caribou Carnival the best it can be. I would like to take this opportunity and thank everyone who bought tickets from me.

Kathleen
I have lived my whole life in Yellowknife . . all 19 years of it! Like my brother and sister, I was born here in the old Stanton Hospital. After graduation, in the fall of 2005, I went on an educational exchange trip to Germany. Since returning I've been working at Bootlegger as the Assistant Manager. I enjoy long walks on sunset sandy beaches, exotic candle lit dinners, picnics in the snow, captivating discourse with friends, getting my picture taken with Carnie and cuddling up with a good book in front of a roaring fire.

I am full of Yellowknife spirit and that is why I am running for Caribou Carnival Queen!
